Hi, I’m Nico! This is my second year as an Instructional Aide in the developmental preschool at Licton Springs. I’m currently a student at North Seattle College, working toward my BAS in Early Childhood Education. I love being part of the energy, joy, and learning that fills our preschool classroom! In my free time, I enjoy biking, browsing thrift and antique shops, visiting my grandmother in Poulsbo, and perpetually trying to finish my stack of New Yorker articles.
Hello! This is my first year as a lead teacher at Licton Springs, but I am a returning staff member after 3 years working elsewhere in the district and beyond, whilst getting my Master’s in Teaching. I am excited to return and get to teach the two subjects I am passionate about. Outside of work I can be found reading mystery novels, roller skating, and doing trivia (something I bring into the classroom as well).
Hi! My name is Jenn Cooper (Teacher Jenn), and this is my second year teaching Developmental Preschool at Licton Springs. I have been a special education teacher for students in grades PreK through 8th in Seattle Public Schools for 17 years! In addition to my special ed experience, I’ve taught 3rd -6th graders in a one-room schoolhouse on Orcas Island, preschool students in a Reggio Emilia program, and English as a Foreign Language at Universidad Tecnica in Ambato, Ecuador. When I’m not shuttling my own kids to soccer and dance, I enjoy backpacking, paddle boarding, reading fiction, and competing in agility trials with my high-energy dog!
I am excited to be at Licton Springs this year-reducing my commute from 35 miles to 12 blocks each way. I have 5 years of experience with preschoolers and another year working with K-6th graders in Kent. Being silly is a big part of my life and I have found teaching is able to marry that and a career.
I spend my time as a Special Education teacher, showing houses, and seasonally working at Spirit Halloween. My family are huge Halloween fans and love to decorate.
My weekdays are spent working with Developmental Pre-L Program through 8th grade students at Licton Springs K-8. This is my 4th year at the school. It's a great community of staff and students. I really enjoy working with children of all ages. My path as an educator started with teaching music at the pre-school level which eventually led to tutoring K-6 ELL students and now focuses on Special Education.
Outside of school, my time is often spent baking/cooking, reading, outdoor activities (walking our dog to riding my bike), musical performances playing international folk music and best of all, spending time with my family.
