McWashington, Ammon

Principal

mcwashington@seattleschools.org

Hi, I am Mac.  This is my first year as principal here at Licton Springs.    I have had the pleasure of working with schools/students for several years, as a high school principal, district athletic director and in central office.   My home state is Texas, small town Conroe , Texas.   From there I attended Washington State University on an athletic scholarship, received my bachelor’s degree and later my master’s degree from University of Washington.

It is a joy to be able to support a school community.

Hi! I'm Andrea Porter-Smith, occupational therapist. I love being an OT and working with students to achieve their goals! When I'm not doing fun movement breaks and writing games with students, I enjoy hiking, swimming, reading, and crafting with my 5- and 2-year-old daughters. I look forward to getting to know your student and family this school year.

My name is Manju Sharma. I am so excited to be at Licton Springs. I have a master’s in science and MIT. I was born in India, but I have lived in this country for more time than India. This is home now. I have 2 sons. The elder works for Amazon and the younger is doing CS at UW. I have always wanted to teach, so I went back to school to get my Masters in Teaching, and it is a dream come true. I feel that Math and Physics can make one look at the universe in such a special way. I love kids, animals, and trees. When not teaching, I enjoy gardening, yoga, ethnobotany, cooking, sketching on and off, travel (money and time permitting), watching comedies and the news, and spending time with my family and the list goes on I love planting trees during winters for a non-profit, Mountain to Sound Greenway Trust, in Puget Sound. I look forward to meeting the students.

I love being active and I’m a huge nerd. I enjoy sharing my love of learning with students, especially when it comes to history. I got my BA in History at WWU and firmly believe that education is a way to open so many doors. I love reading and playing video games to relax or taking my dogs for long walks throughout Seattle.

Straub, Brian

Teacher - Special Education - Resource

brstraub@seattleschools.org

I have worked in Seattle schools in many different jobs since 2003. In that time, I have worked in around 80 different schools. I became a special education teacher because I love being able to work with students one-on-one and in small groups. It’s a great way to bond and build rapport with students. I have a master’s in teaching from SPU and have worked at Licton Springs since 2019. I love the small size of our school, the community and the flexibility that those things allow us.
