MMIWP Assembly & Family Invitation – May 20

May 20, 2026
Summary: students, staff, and families will have the opportunity to learn more about the MMIWP movement—what it is, and why it matters

MMIWP Assembly & Family Invitation – May 2o

Licton Springs K-8 will be hosting a special assembly on Wednesday, May 20 (time is still being worked out) in connection with our annual Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and People (MMIWP) march and month of learning. This meaningful event is being held in partnership with our school’s Racial Equity Team (RET) and members of our Native family community.

We warmly invite parents and families to join us for this important assembly.

This gathering was requested and thoughtfully organized by Native American parents in our community who lead MMIWP efforts. Together with the Racial Equity Team, they are working to create a space for learning, awareness, and reflection. During the assembly, students, staff, and families will have the opportunity to learn more about the MMIWP movement—what it is, why it matters, and why it is essential for all of us to better understand the experiences and challenges faced by Native communities.

At Licton Springs K-8, we are committed to fostering a respectful and informed school community. Events like this help us build understanding, strengthen connections, and honor the voices and leadership of our Native families.

We hope you will join us in learning together.
