Good evening, Licton Springs K-8 Families,

Fall 2020 Updates:  The School Board met and approved the district’s reopening plan which gets submitted to the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction.  The Fall 2020 Updates page on the SPS website has been updated to include this plan, as well some new information, including sample student schedules.  https://www.seattleschools.org/district/calendars/news/what_s_new/planning_for_re-entry.  You can also sign up for the district newsletter there.  As a reminder, the district site is a great source for real-time information to families, and we strongly encourage you to check there frequently for new information.  The teacher’s union continues to negotiate with the district; until that bargaining is complete, many details related to reopening will be on hold.  Stay tuned!

Free or Reduced Price Meals Forms:  We want to make sure all eligible families and students have access to these benefits.  We are encouraging all families to check their eligibility for this important program by reviewing the SPS website for this program here: https://www.seattleschools.org/departments/nutritionservices/free_and_reduced_price_meals.  The site is very helpful and includes Word Doc forms online that you can print and complete, as well as an online portal (https://paypams.com/OnlineApp.aspx)  where you may complete your form online.  If you choose to complete the paper form, please call the main office at 206.413.2400 to check when the office is open so we can call and let you know.  We will also have paper forms available at school for your completion.

Pandemic EBT:  Pandemic-EBT is a new and temporary food benefit to help families buy groceries for their children because schools have been closed due to COVID-19. Any child can receive P-EBT, regardless of citizenship or immigration status. The only requirement is a child must be eligible for free or reduced-price school meals.  You can learn more about the Pandemic EBT benefit as well as free meals school sites on the SPS website here: https://www.seattleschools.org/resources/student_meals.  The site provides you with a link to Washington Connection where you can apply here: https://www.washingtonconnection.org/home/.  The deadline for signing up for this resource is September 11th at 5pm.  Please don’t miss out.  If you have questions, you can reach out to the Customer Service Contact Center at 877.501.2233 from 8am to 3pm Monday through Friday.  If you require language interpretation, please ask for it at the beginning of your call as interpretation should be available.

Webster Seismic Updates: In case you missed it, the district produced a video back in March detailing some of the important upgrades made to the Webster building’s safety by make seismic updates to its structure.  You can check out the video on line here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXwQmIUIIYc

At the end of this week, you will be receiving another message outlining how we will be distributing and collecting the annual back to school forms.

We hope you are staying cool and healthy during this heat wave.

Have a great rest of your weekend,

    Your Licton Springs K-8 Family
