LSK8 Weekly Update 06/12/22

Good evening, Licton Springs K-8 Families,

We have reached our final week of the school year!  We appreciate your support and partnership this school year.  We also want to wish all of our family’s a very happy Pride Month.

School Spirit Week:  We will conclude our 21-22 school year with a Spirit Week.  The themes are:

  • Monday: Pajama Day
  • Tuesday:  Game Day Gear
  • Wednesday:  Pride day (wear anything Pride-related)
  • Thursday:  Monochromatic Day (wear different shades of one color)
  • Friday:  Celebration Day!  Celebrate all the hard work you’ve done this year with your class.

Technology Return:  All students must turn in their technology next week as a part of our end of year close out.  At this time, all students must return their technology, the power cord, and any bag or case that was given out with it.  We will be collecting student technology on the following schedule this week:

  • Tuesday:  PreK & Kindergarten
  • Wednesday:  1st-4th grades
  • Thursday: 5th-8th grades

This Week’s Events:  We have a packed last week of events, in addition to Spirit Week:

Tuesday:  We are having an all school Field Day.  The AM portion will be with each class, and the PM session will involve mixed grade-level games.  These are not competitions; Field Day will be an opportunity to come together as a community to play games and have some fun before Summer break!

Friday: 1 Hour Early Release for all students in the district & Moving Up Ceremony—Vaccinated Parents Invited.  Seattle Public Schools dismisses all students one hour early on Friday, June 17th, which is the last day of school.  School will dismiss at 2:25.  Our annual promotion ceremony will be held at 10am that day.  Vaccinated family members are invited to attend.  The ceremony will be followed by community social and cake-eating time.  Families may take their students home with them after the ceremony to celebrate their hard-earned summer.  Students who remain will return to class at 11:30.  8th Grade graduates will have a cook-out (families included) after the ceremony.  We plan to host the event outside in our play area.  We ask that families bring blankets or lawn chairs to sit on, as limited seating will be available.  Students will also be seated on the ground, so dress should be typical school-wear/casual.  We are excited to celebrate your scholar’s school year with you!

Join SPS at the annual Seattle Pride Parade!:  The Seattle Schools contingent as students, staff, and families march together with pride alongside our school bus “float.”  The parade starts at 11am on Sunday, June 26th.  SPS will be in the staging area on 4th avenue prior to the start time.  Come early to make posters, hand out candy, and enjoy the cheering crowd.  The parade route moves north along 4th Ave. between Union and the Seattle Center, where the party continues with a family-friendly festival including music, booths, food, and fun! No need to RSVP, just show up! (Please bring proof of vaccination to show upon request)  Questions?  Contact Lisa Love llove@seattleschools.org

We hope you have a great rest of your weekend!
