I hope that everyone is having an exciting yet restful summer break!

The school year is quickly approaching and we want to welcome all of our incoming and returning kindergartners/ first graders to our school for JumpStart on Wednesday, August 24th through Friday, August 26th. If you have not heard of JumpStart, this program is an experience to welcome all kindergartners and their families to Seattle Schools. Since our kindergarten class will be combined with our first graders next year, we are opening it up to them as well. Scholars will get the chance to meet their peers and school staff and get to know the school. Our goal is for our new kindergartners and first graders to feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. Families will drop off and pick up their scholar as no school bus transportation is offered. If you need an ORCA card, please call the school to request one.

The details for JumpStart are as follows:

• Wednesday, August 24th from 12pm-3pm we will host a cookout for all K-1 students and their families: This is a great time to meet your scholars new teacher, tour the school, and to allow your scholars to play with their new classmates.
  Please RSVP to dlrhodes@seattleschools.org, include your students name and the number of people that will be coming for the cookout.
• Thursday, August 25th from 9am-3pm, we would like all incoming kindergartners and NEW to LSK8 first grade scholars to join us on this day. 
  The goal for Thursday is for all our new scholars to get comfortable in their new classroom and with their teacher. Students will be served breakfast and lunch.
• Friday, August 26th from 9am-3pm, we would like for ALL kindergartners and first graders to come.
  Our goal for this day is to build community with all students and establish positive routines and connections together. In addition, scholars will create artwork to decorate the room so they have a tangible reminder of their experience when they return. Students will be receiving a breakfast and a lunch.
