DESCRIPTION:Field Trip! 4th and 5th Grade to Meany Hall\n\nOn November 20\,
  our 4th and 5th grade students will travel to the Meany Center for the Pe
 rforming Arts at the University of Washington from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  to attend a performance of BIRDY by Hung Dance\, an internationally accla
 imed contemporary dance company from Taiwan.\n\nChoreographed by the compa
 ny's founder and artistic director\, Lai Hung-Chung\, BIRDY is a powerful 
 and imaginative work performed by eight dancers. The performance blends co
 ntemporary dance with elements of Chinese opera\, Tai Chi\, and mythology.
  Using striking props such as rattan poles and flowing pheasant feathers\,
  the dancers explore themes of freedom\, resilience\, self-expression\, an
 d the challenges of navigating societal expectations.\n\nThrough bold move
 ment and creative storytelling\, BIRDY encourages audiences to reflect on 
 what it means to break free\, find balance\, and continue moving forward w
 ith strength and purpose. We are excited for students to experience this u
 nique artistic performance and engage with a different cultural perspectiv
 e through the performing arts.
